Ali Wong is ready to play cupid for Hoda Kotb.
During an appearance on the Today show Oct. 9, the Beef star told Hoda and co-host Jenna Bush Hager she had the perfect match in mind for the longtime news anchor.
“Eric André is, like, obsessed with you,” the Emmy winner said. “He’s a colorful dresser. He’s the host of his own show.”
When a photo of the comedian dressed as Hoda flashed onscreen, Ali exclaimed, “Look at him! Look at him paying homage to you!”
As the co-hosts pressed the Always Be My Maybe star on why Eric, 41, would dress up as Hoda, tk age—who announced her plans to leave Today early next year—her answer was simple.
“Because he loves Hoda,” she continued. “I asked him, when I was talking to him about dating, I was like, ‘What is your type?’ And he responded, ‘Hoda Kotb.’”
The Big Mouth star went on to list several qualities that make Hoda such a catch, declaring, “You have a career, you’re secure, you’re beautiful!”
While the broadcast veteran will have more time on her hands once she fulfills her morning TV duties, she’s already made clear she plans to spend that time with her daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, who she shares with ex Joel Schiffman.
“It does make more sense to stay at NBC,” she told People in an interview published Oct. 9. “I'm financially secure and I would have job security. I mean, why would you ever not do that? But I've been watching my kids and I was thinking to myself, I wonder what I'm missing?”
Hoda—who ended her engagement to Joel in 2022—said she realized she simply wanted to be more present for her girls.
“There’s the guilt you carry because you can't be 100 percent at work and 100 percent at home,” she went on. “Something has to give if you want excellence. If you're going to be excellent at work, something has to give at home. And if you want to be excellent at home, I mean excellent, and do all the things, something has to give at work. It can't be equal.”
